Allan Hendrickson

Ph.D. - Mathematics Educator
Allan is a compassionate educator with a broad teaching experience in math, covering nearly all ages and levels. He believes mathematics is a beautiful and powerful subject that belongs to everyone.
Allan grew up and studied in the Pacific Northwest, earning his B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Washington. After several years of teaching, he returned to graduate school to earn an M.S. from Western Washington University and a Ph.D. from the University of Oregon. He has worked with students from a wide range of ages and backgrounds, covering early arithmetic through upper-division undergraduate mathematics courses across universities, community colleges, and children's programs. He has volunteered for years with programs such as directed reading programs for students, Math Circle, tutoring centers, and events. Allan believes that growth can be inspired in anyone with the right approach. His nontraditional path as a student and teacher informs a joyful, patient, and adaptive pedagogy that affirms each student's unique personality and needs. Outside of teaching, Allan enjoys hiking, biking, rock climbing, and other sports, along with cooking and playing music at home.
