Summer Programs


In the spirit of our Persistent Inquirers, Geffen Academy is offering a range of summer learning opportunities designed to spark curiosity, build skills, and help students make the most of their summer. Courses run June 22–July 10 and are open to all current and incoming Geffen Academy students, with many options available to students from other schools. It’s a wonderful chance to connect with friends, explore new interests, and learn from Geffen Academy Educators.

We are excited to offer three Summer Enrichment Programs, plus a new five‑week Geometry course for Geffen Academy Upper School students:

Rising 5th Grade: 5th Grade Foundations Registration
Rising 6th Grade: Introduction to Middle School - 6th Grade Cohort Program Registration
Middle & Upper School Summer Program Registration

IMPORTANT DETAILS:

Program dates: June 22 - July 10

A $125 registration fee applies to all applications.

All three-week Summer Program courses are enrichment only and do not qualify for Geffen Academy course credit.

The five-week Geometry Course for Geffen Academy Upper School students is a credit-bearing UC A-G approved course.

THREE-WEEK PROGRAMS:

5th Grade Foundations Program

A cohort-based experience designed specifically for rising 5th graders. Students will explore Geffen Academy's signature courses— including: I-Track (Makerspace), PE/Fitness/Nutrition, Drama (Creative Writing/Reading), and Art (Ceramics, Drawing, Painting). Courses will mostly be taught by Geffen Academy Educators and scaffolded for the rising‑5th‑grade mindset.
 
Students will enjoy:
  • Four 60‑minute classes each day
  • A 30‑minute lunch and an additional 20‑minute break
  • Games, team‑building, and playful activities woven throughout the day
This three‑week program offers a joyful introduction to Geffen Academy’s academic and extracurricular life.

Eligibility: Students must have completed the first marking period of 4th grade.

Schedule: Daily, 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.

Introduction to Middle School: 6th Grade Cohort Program 

Our popular 6th Grade Cohort Program returns with a full day of inquiry‑driven, hands‑on enrichment designed to help rising middle schoolers step confidently into their next chapter.
Students will rotate through five 50‑minute classes, including: I‑Track (Makerspace), Art (Ceramics, Drawing & Painting), PE/Fitness/Nutrition, Middle School Essentials (joyful study skills), and Drama (Creative Writing/Reading).

The program emphasizes independence, creativity, collaboration, and fun, with a 30‑minute lunch shared with Educators and peers.

Eligibility: Students must have completed the first marking period of 5th grade; enrollment at Geffen Academy is not required.

Schedule: Daily, 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.

Middle and Upper School Summer Program Courses 
Rising 7th - 12th Grade

Students can build their own day by selecting from a variety of 90‑minute enrichment courses offered between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. This flexible program allows students to explore interests, deepen skills, and learn alongside peers in a supportive environment.
Please note: These courses are for enrichment only and do not qualify for Geffen Academy course credit.
