Taiko Drumming at Geffen Academy

In celebration of APIDA Heritage Month, Geffen Academy hosted The Music Center's TAIKOPROJECT in the Dining Commons for community time. Performers of the group used authentic instruments hand-crafted in Japan.

They weaved traditional and modern forms of taiko together and shared elements of their Japanese and Japanese-American culture. The performance was a lively and engaging event that ended with a handful of students brought up on stage to learn a bit about how to perform taiko drumming.
