J.R. has taught a range of disciplines, including computer programming, video game design, animation, filmmaking, sculpture, and mold making.

Previously, they worked as a media arts teaching artist in New York City Public Schools through The Children’s Museum of the Arts. Before attending the highly regarded Interactive Technology Program at New York University, J.R. was a former creative director at an independent music label, and also has an extensive background in digital and physical fabrication.
