M.S. - Mathematics Educator
Joseph Almeida comes to Geffen Academy after 13 years as a middle school mathematics educator.
He has experience as a district-wide curriculum and assessment writer in New York City, mathematics department chair, presenter at national conferences, content area and instructional consultant to national projects, and mathematics competition coach. In both New York and Massachusetts, his mathematics students have been highly successful, with his students in Massachusetts ranking first in the state for achievement on statewide assessments. He has appeared on national news networks advising parents and educators on effective mathematics instruction. He is one of the educators featured in Steven Farr’s book Teaching As Leadership: The Highly Effective Teacher’s Guide to Closing the Achievement Gap, and has nearly 2 million views worldwide on his YouTube channel “Math with Mr. Almeida.” He holds a B.A. from Georgetown University and a master's in education from Pace University.
