Jack Caughey

Ph.D. - English Department Chair
One of Geffen Academy at UCLA's founding Educators, Jack is chair of the English department and teaches 11th-grade English and 12th Grade Humanities.

Jack began his career in teaching in 2005 and has been a UCLA Bruin since 2007. He is devoted to the idea that writing is a form of thinking and not a tedious step that comes after thinking is done. Jack graduated from Bates College with a degree in philosophy and earned an M.A. in creative writing from the University of Nevada, Reno. At UCLA, he earned a Ph.D. in English and taught courses on literature and writing. In his spare time, Jack has survived two avalanches and hopes not to be in a third.
