Kate Oldre
M.A. & M.Ed. - Associate Head of School
In her role as Associate Head of School at Geffen Academy, Kate oversees the 6-12 Academic Program. She is dedicated to refining and supporting an educational infrastructure that centers the student while honoring the roles of educators and families.
From her management of the Academic Leadership team – spanning course sequence design to instructional support - to her partnership with the Family Engagement Co-op, Kate is committed to preserving a student’s years at Geffen Academy as a time of discovery, guided independence, appropriate challenge, and intentional intellectual connection. Kate joined Geffen Academy in 2018 from BASIS Independent Brooklyn where she served as the Middle and Upper School Director of Student Affairs. Prior to BASIS, Kate spent more than a decade working at The Beacon School, a selective New York City public high school. Kate began her career in education as a science and technology teacher before transitioning to Beacon’s administrative team and her appointment to Dean. Kate holds a B.A. in Art History from Princeton University; a Certificate in Premedical Sciences from Columbia University; an M.A. in Teaching Biology from New York University; and an M.Ed. from Teachers College, Columbia University, where she concurrently earned her New York State School Building Leader certification.
