A Banner Year for Geffen Academy Mock Trial

In only its second year, the GeffenAcademy Mock Trial program expanded from nine students to 23. Throughout September and October, students studied witness statements, prepared questions for direct and cross examinations, and developed arguments based on real cases and law. This culminated in two trials at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse as part of a competition that featured 134 schools from around LA County. Geffen Academystudents demonstrated their ability to think on their feet, speak in public, and to argue and object. The team also racked up recognition in this year’s tournament.
Deivis D. '26 won a county-wide award for his portrayal of the defendant, Logan Gold, and Ananya G. '26, Lila N. '28, and Ziya A. '27 were given honorable mentions for their performances.

Mock Trial will begin spring training after spring break next semester. Interested students (rising 9th-12th graders) are welcome to join–speak to Katie W. '27 or Mr. Jake for more information.
