Adam Morgenstern earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from California State University, Northridge. Before joining Geffen Academy in 2024, he spent eight years teaching in higher education, including at community college, CSUN, and Loyola Marymount University. His areas of specialty include the history of the United States Supreme Court and constitutional law, the Civil War and Reconstruction, and twentieth-century American foreign relations.

 

Adam approaches the study of history with a particular emphasis on historiography and the relationship between written history and public memory. His research explores how contemporary events shape the ways in which different generations interpret and remember the past. In the classroom, he encourages students to bring their own experiences and perspectives to the study of history, and to recognize their unique responsibility not only to understand the past but also to help preserve it.

 

Outside of the classroom, Adam is an avid cook who enjoys experimenting with new recipes. He enjoys hiking, bicycling, swimming, and traveling. He is a film enthusiast and a dog lover.
