Emma Oeland
Emma Oeland is a SoCal native, a UCLA Alum, and an M.Ed. graduate of Boston University. She has been teaching since 2015 and aims to encourage historical empathy in her students through the study of global history. She loves exploring new music, museums, and films and working on her Mandarin language skills.
During her history undergrad at UCLA, Emma specialized in Chinese history, specifically the transition of the Qing Dynasty to the Republic and relationships between the East and the West. This led her to teach abroad in China for three years. She received her state-certified teaching license and continued to work in the secondary school sector in Boston, Massachusetts. She has taught history to all ages in various school settings and to a diversity of populations. She hopes to apply this experience to her pedagogy and not only encourage her students to connect to our history but what connects us all together.
