Fitness, Weightlifting, and Nutrition
In this fitness course, which follows set guidelines per the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s stance on weightlifting for young adults, students will learn the basics behind designing their own individualized fitness program. Proper technique will be emphasized for all activities, and modifications for exercises will be taught based on students’ needs. Students will have the opportunity to learn how to use an Olympic barbell and the various exercises that can be utilized with it. Additionally, students will learn proper gym/weight room etiquette. Please wear comfortable workout clothing; bring water, a snack, and a towel.

Psychology in Everyday Life
Why do people sometimes remember things that never happened? Why do crowds affect our choices, sleep distort our perceptions, or emotions shape decisions? In this summer course, students explore psychology as the scientific study of how people think, feel, and behave. Students examine major areas of modern psychology, from brain biology to learning, memory, personality, social behavior, and mental health, while learning how psychologists design research and test ideas. Each topic offers a new way to understand human behavior, showing how psychology connects to biology, science, and everyday life. By the end of the course, students develop the ability to ask meaningful questions, evaluate explanations, and form thoughtful hypotheses about human behavior using evidence and observation.
