  • Geffen Academy Animal Farm Mock Trial at UCLA Law School

    This spring, the 6th grade humanities sections visited UCLA’s Law School to conduct the Animal Farm Mock Trial.  The three sections split off into two courtrooms and put Napoleon of Animal Farm on trial for violating the non-pig animals’ civil rights.

    This year, Geffen Academy’s Science Bowl team, accompanied by Dr. Ashforth and Profesora Kat, had the opportunity to compete in the high school regional finals of the National Science Bowl.

  • Holocaust Survivor, Paul Kester, Speaks at Geffen Academy

    The Jewish Affinity Group was honored to have brought Holocaust survivor Paul Kester to speak this past Tuesday for Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. The assembly opened with an introduction from a member of the Los Angeles Holocaust Museum who said, "There is a belief that if you hear a witness, you become a witness." With that, Mr. Kester shared his story with our community.

    The 6th grade class ventured the seas to explore Channel Islands National Park for a day of connection with each other and nature.

  • In Search of The Golden Ratio: Advanced Research Students Visit the Hammer Museum

    Dr. Ashforth’s Advanced Research class visited the Hammer Museum to analyze artwork in the context of the “Golden Ratio”. The visit was planned to demonstrate the interdisciplinary relationship between math and art.

    A small group of apprentices traveled to the UCLA Makerspace together to tour the Samueli Makerspace and Machining Shop.

    A handful of Geffen Advanced Astrophysics students elected to spend their Wednesday night at the UCLA Planetarium public show.

  • Got Rhythm! Visits Geffen Academy

    For our final celebration of Black History Month, the Upper School enjoyed a dynamic dance performance by the group Got Rhythm! Toward the end of the performance, students had the chance to learn a few tap dance steps!
  • Taiko Drumming at Geffen Academy

    In celebration of APIDA Heritage Month, Geffen Academy hosted The Music Center's TAIKOPROJECT in the Dining Commons for community time. Performers of the group used authentic instruments hand-crafted in Japan.
