Theater

Geffen Academy’s summer theater course will focus on improvisation, movement, and sketch writing. Students will have the opportunity to engage in various improvisational exercises and structures, including theater games and narrative styles. All learning will be experiential and rooted in physical expression and intellectual understanding. Multiple movement modalities will be introduced, including aspects of the Jacques Lecoq Theatre Training, as well as dance and physical comedy. Students will apply their improvisation and movement skills to developing short, original performances. The course will culminate in a final showcase during the last week of class. Additionally, if students demonstrate a more advanced understanding of theater, they will have the opportunity to explore various genres of theater as performers, writers, and directors.
